When’s the last time you heard of a good DJ that came outta Serbia? Never? Gramophonedzie is the exception to the rule. His first hit Why Don’t You features a sultry sample of the 1942 Peggy Lee track Why Don’t You Do Right and saw huge success on the UK charts and across Europe. He’s fairly new to the ‘famous DJ thang’- before he was playing for crowds of thousands he was writing theme songs for the Balkan versions of Big Brother. Hilar right? He pushes the limits of house music by importing influence from genres like samba, swing, funk and jazz. And for that, I dig him.

That cream truck has kept truck truck truckin’ after its spill, spewing cream all ova the place! I have a ton of beats waiting to be creamed after our little hiatus and the Audio Bullys‘ bangers are at the top of my cream chart. Their March Essential Mix has been the essential playlist for many a late night sess (check it, especially the jam around the 30 min mark – light at the end of the tunnel) and since I’m not going to cream it in its entirety, here’s some big tracks from their new album, Higher Than the Eiffel. This album has been in heavy rotation over at the Porchy Place all year.

Good news kids. A dairy truck tumbled over on the 401 today and it was full of cream-thankfully we were there to sop it all up. We’re coming back big for the rest of the summer and beyond so make sure to keep checking back for fresh chunage. Until then, here are a few bangers I soaked up from off the highway.

The first is a South Rakkas remix of the KillaQueenz, Australia’s only legit female hip-hop/dancehall duo. Vice magazine said it best. “They don’t suck. In fact, Kween G (aka. Gladys) and Belizian Bombshell (aka. Desiree) offer a fresh mix of old-school rhymes and dance-hall infused beats that kick the shit out of most music currently out there.” Yes indeedy.

Next up is the Benga-produced On a Mission from the UK’s Katy B. Check out the music video here..I’d love to see this one live.

And finally we’ve got Ayo from Hyper Crush, produced by Diplo. Best ‘Ayo’ I’ve heard since Andre Nickatina.

The whole EC team reunited on Saturday for musical mayhem at Digital Future. We opted for side room grime over main stage dust for most of the night and into the early morning. Hands down, Nero was king. Erryybody in that room lost their dam minds when Nero took stage. They’re a two man atom bomb of filth straight outta the UK, whose remix of MJ Cole’s Sincere (below) will knock your socks off. Another our fave sets came from Marcus Visionary, a jungle/dub producer who’s been at the heart of the Toronto rave scene since the early 90′s. I’ve seen him a few times around the city and his shows are always off the heez. His music has a strong reggae presence which is one of the reasons I’m so in love with him..DL The General for a prime example (buy more tracks here). Toddla T also deserves a creamy shout-out for tearing shit up that night. dzpz and vicvictorious..let’s not have it be another dog’s year before we can all jank around in beatphoria like that again mmmkay?

It could be the groovy synth, the warm ‘n fuzzy lyrics or upbeat vibe, but I am really feeling Hot Chip‘s We Have Love off their new album, One Life Stand. I usually wouldn’t expect such an optimistic, danceable jam from Hot Chip, but on this track, they deliver the goods. Turn it up load to catch the drum towards the end.

After Olympic chaos in Van, I’m home and ready to enjoy some proper beats with some proper party animals. Thankfully The Faktory‘s back at it, presenting Fool’s Gold‘s Congorock as he finishes up the last leg of his aptly named ‘More Fire’ tour. I missed this Italian stallion when he was here on NYE and there’s no chance I’d be stupid enough to miss him again. Congorock classifies his sound as tropical hard house, and that’s exactly what you’ll get..cool island riddims meshed with big bassy fist pumpin’ beats. Here’s a goodie I’ve been meaning to cream for while. I played this jam last night and even the diehards glued to the Olympic ceremonies starting bobbing their heads.
